How I'd redesign Spiderman

Imagine you knew Spiderman in 1999, you lost track, and suddenly you encounter this person in 2012. A Peter Parker who lost Mary Jane years ago, listened to his best friend who just so happens to be the Green Goblin, and poured out his anguish against crime. A hardened echo of the person he used to be, acting on faded glimmers of righteousness, justice, love. Ultimately not friendly, and not your neighborhood Spider. This is my vision for an American comic book icon, a man caught in his own web.
